SHV Creative Team: Crafting with Open Bezel Charms!

If the words ‘Open Bezel Charm’ themselves are puzzling, then this post is for you! If you’re a resin craft lover then this is also for you! Open Bezel Charms are metal charms that can be worn as earrings, necklace, or bracelets or even used as keychains or ornaments. They don’t have a metal backing, and therefore are ‘open’ (fun fact: there are ‘closed’ back bezel charms that are equally fun to craft with).

We recently added Open Bezel Charms to our lineup of glitter and resin crafting blanks, but not everyone knows what to do with them. Have no fear! We asked our Sweet Home Vinyl Creative Team member Crystal (Instagram:@cboedeker83) to share her secrets for creating custom open bezel charms.

Some tools you will need:

Open Bezel Charm (your choice, they come in different metal colors & shapes)

Resin Tape

UV Resin

UV Lamp (commonly sold for nails)

Silicone Stir Stick

And any of the following decorative elements:

Polyester Glitter

Mica Powder

Alcohol Ink

Dried Flowers

Small Beads

AND NOW . . . Here's Crystal:

PART 1

 PART 2:

SIMPLE STEPS RECAP:

1. Place your charm on a piece of Resin Tape

 2. Squeeze UV Resin into the charm shape & use a resin tool to fill the space.

3. This is the fun part! Add your decorative elements--glitter, mica, shapes, beads, flowers, etc. Crystal used Glitter Chimp 'Light Year' Glow Mica Powder & Musical Note shapes.

4. Cure the UV Resin in your charm under a UV Nail Lamp.
5. After curing, remove resin tape & add other elements such as a necklace chain, bracelet, earring hooks, keyring, tassel, etc. Crystal's 'glow-in-the-dark' design is SIMPLY CHARMING! The possibilities are endless! Check out some of her other designs:
